Kevin De Bruyne is approaching his farewell to Manchester City, and it now seems likely that his next destination will be southern Italy.

According to Belgian media, his wife, Michele Lacroix, has been seen house hunting in Naples – sparking speculation about a possible move to Serie A.

Goodbye After Ten Years at City

The Belgian midfielder will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, as the club’s management has decided not to extend his contract.

According to the Daily Mail, the decision was made by both sporting director Txiki Begiristain and CEO Ferran Soriano, and De Bruyne has now opened the door to new adventures:

“I still feel I can play at a high level, but I understand that clubs have to make decisions,” he said in April. “I am open to most things and looking at everything – both sporting and family matters.”

Napoli Has Several Cards in Hand

De Bruyne has been linked with clubs from the Premier League, MLS, and Saudi Arabia, but this week it was revealed that his representatives have had meetings with Napoli.

The rumors gained momentum when HLN reported that Michele Lacroix had been spotted in the city, allegedly looking at properties.
The couple already has ties to the area.

They were married in Sorrento in 2017, and several of their friends are connected to Napoli – including Romelu Lukaku, who is the club’s top scorer this season, and Dries Mertens, who will be named honorary citizen of the city next month.

Napoli hopes that both the friendship with Lukaku and the memories from their wedding will play a role in the decision.

With Antonio Conte as their new coach, Napoli hopes to offer De Bruyne a new sporting challenge – and participation in the Champions League next season.

The club has rebuilt its project after winning the title in 2023 and is eager to bring in an experienced leader for the midfield.

Kevin De Bruyne, who will turn 34 this summer, has played 36 games for City this season, scoring six goals and making eight assists – despite extended injury breaks.

On May 17, he could end his time at the club with a third FA Cup title if City beats Crystal Palace in the final.

Where he lands next will be decided by both heart and head – and possibly also his wife’s choice of home.
