England dream reignited as ignored striker sends message to Tuchel
Dominic Calvert Lewin has made it clear that his ambition to play for England at next summer’s World Cup remains undimmed, despite receiving no contact from national team head coach Thomas Tuchel.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Leeds United striker accepts that he is currently outside the international picture but feels his recent performances have given him fresh reason to believe that could change.
Form at leeds fuels fresh belief
Since completing a summer move to Leeds United, Calvert Lewin has enjoyed an impressive return to form. The 28 year old has scored four goals in four matches and has quickly established himself as a key figure at Elland Road after leaving Everton.
The Daily Mirror reports that the striker feels physically and mentally refreshed following the transfer, and believes he is playing at a level comparable to the best periods of his career.

That resurgence has inevitably revived discussion around his international prospects, particularly with the World Cup approaching next summer.
England ambitions never disappeared
Calvert Lewin has not represented England since July 2021 and has won 11 caps in total, but he has insisted that time away from the squad never altered his long term goal.
Speaking in comments reported by the Daily Mirror, he said playing at a World Cup remains the ultimate ambition for any English player and something he has always worked towards, regardless of setbacks or omissions.
He added that representing England is still the highest honour in his career and a dream that began in childhood while watching the national team.

Silence from Tuchel changes nothing
Despite the lack of communication from Tuchel or England’s coaching staff, Calvert Lewin has stressed that his focus remains on maintaining consistency at club level.
He acknowledged that competition for places is intense, but said belief in his ability to compete at international level has never left him, even during periods when a return seemed unlikely.
According to the Daily Mirror, the striker views his current run of form as an opportunity to put himself back into contention rather than waiting for reassurances from the national setup.
A personal target driving his season
Rather than placing emphasis on selection decisions beyond his control, Calvert Lewin has framed his World Cup ambition as a personal benchmark for the season.

He has pointed to the standards he set for himself during his previous England appearances and said that motivation continues to shape his performances for Leeds as the campaign progresses.
Whether that will be enough to force his way back into contention remains uncertain, but his message is clear. The goal has never changed.
