Over the past two decades, the Bundesliga has been home to some of the most prolific strikers in world football. From Miroslav Klose’s clinical finishing in the mid-2000s to Harry Kane’s recent dominance with Bayern Munich, the German top flight has consistently showcased elite goal-scoring talent.

This list revisits the top scorer of each season from 2005/06 to 2024/25, highlighting the players who left their mark with goals, consistency, and unforgettable performances.

2005/06 – Miroslav Klose – 25 goals

German legend Miroslav Klose led the scoring charts with 25 goals for Werder Bremen. His all-around ability, sharp movement, and clinical finishing made him one of the most feared strikers in the league.

2006/07 – Theofanis Gekas – 20 goals

Greek forward Theofanis Gekas surprised many by finishing top scorer with 20 goals for VfL Bochum. Despite playing for a modest club, his instinct inside the box stood out.

2007/08 – Luca Toni – 24 goals

Italian striker Luca Toni hit the ground running in his debut Bundesliga season, netting 24 goals for Bayern Munich. His physical presence and poacher’s instincts were key to Bayern’s success.

2008/09 – Grafite – 28 goals

2013/14 – Robert Lewandowski – 20 goals

In his final season for Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski bagged 20 goals to top the list. It was the start of a dominant era for the Polish forward in German football.

2014/15 – Alexander Meier – 19 goals

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Alexander Meier had a remarkable season with 19 goals. Despite injuries and inconsistent form from his team, he proved lethal in front of goal.

2015/16 – Robert Lewandowski – 30 goals

Now with Bayern Munich, Lewandowski returned to the top with 30 goals. His complete forward play—link-up, headers, and long-range shots—was on full display.

2016/17 – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 31 goals

2021/22 – Robert Lewandowski – 35 goals

Lewandowski added yet another title with 35 goals in his final Bayern season. His consistency over nearly a decade was unmatched in modern Bundesliga history.

2022/23 – Niclas Füllkrug & Christopher Nkunku – 16 goals

In a rare tie, both Füllkrug (Werder Bremen) and Nkunku (RB Leipzig) shared the honor with 16 goals. It marked the end of Lewandowski’s era and a transitional year for the league.

2023/24 – Harry Kane – 36 goals
