Carvajal’s spell on the open market is close to ending. According to reporting carried by Get Football News Spain citing Fabrizio Romano, Getafe have struck a verbal agreement with the former Real Madrid defender, who has already completed his medical with the Coliseum club. The signing is awaiting approval from La Liga under the division’s spending cap.
Getafe president Ángel Torres confirmed the state of play to DAZN.
“The player has already passed the medical examination with us, and the agreement between the parties is closed.”
What remains is bureaucratic rather than sporting. La Liga’s valuation committee must verify that the signing fits within Getafe’s permitted squad-cost ceiling, the mechanism the Spanish top flight uses to police club spending against revenues. Only once that cap has room will Carvajal be formally registered as a Getafe player.

451 games, four leagues, six Champions Leagues
The right-back is one of the most decorated full-backs of his generation. Across 13 seasons in Real Madrid’s first team, Carvajal made 451 appearances and lifted 27 official titles, including six Champions League trophies and four La Liga crowns, before his contract expired at the end of last season.
He also won a European Championship with Spain.
Bordalás called Carvajal personally
The pursuit was not a cold one. Head coach José Bordalás, whose Getafe contract runs until 2028, contacted Carvajal personally to explain the role he would play in the squad. Torres confirmed the manager had asked for a wide player, and Carvajal fit the profile.
Fabrizio Romano, the transfer reporter who first flagged the breakthrough, wrote on social media:

“Getafe have reached verbal agreement to sign Dani Carvajal, here we go! The medical tests have been completed and the club is ready for announcement.”
Neither Real Madrid nor Getafe has issued an official statement on the move. Reports in the Spanish press indicate the contract would run until 2027, with Carvajal set to team up with Bordalás at the Coliseum once the paperwork is cleared.
