Flex erupts as United sack Amorim

Manchester United have dismissed Ruben Amorim, bringing another short and unstable managerial reign at Old Trafford to an abrupt end. Former midfielder Darren Fletcher has been placed in temporary charge while the club searches for its next permanent head coach.

The decision has triggered strong reactions among supporters and commentators, many of whom argue the dismissal reflects deeper structural issues rather than a single failed appointment.

A club stuck in turmoil

According to a broadcast interview on The United Stand, long time Manchester United supporter Flex said the timing of Amorim’s exit was not unexpected but described the wider situation at the club as deeply dysfunctional.

He said recent public comments by Amorim, including remarks made in press conferences earlier this week, suggested a relationship that had already broken down. In his view, responsibility for the collapse should be shared between the coach and the club’s leadership.

Flex argued that both sides contributed to the situation and that focusing solely on the manager risks ignoring long standing issues at Old Trafford.

Results that ran out of patience

While some supporters have expressed sympathy for Amorim, Flex rejected the idea that the Portuguese coach was unfairly treated.

According to Flex, Amorim’s record failed to justify continued backing, particularly given the level of investment made during the summer transfer window. He pointed to the club’s poor run of form, including just two wins in 11 matches, as evidence that performances had not met expectations.

He also noted that United’s league position flattered the team, suggesting that a weak overall campaign masked deeper problems in results and consistency.

Promises made and broken

At the same time, Flex argued that Amorim’s dismissal cannot be explained by results alone.

According to the broadcast, he claimed the coach had been promised greater control and long term backing that never materialised. He cited a series of contradictory decisions by the club’s leadership, including reversing course on previous managerial and executive appointments, as signs of instability.

In his assessment, the breakdown stemmed from a failure to align expectations between the coach and those running the club.

Confidence in the board erodes

Much of the criticism was directed at the ownership structure led by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

According to Flex, public assurances about long term planning and patience have repeatedly failed to match reality. He referenced earlier comments from Ratcliffe about giving the manager time, saying those statements now appear hollow.

As a result, he said he no longer trusts the current decision makers to steer the club in the right direction.

Fans fear another false reset

Other voices on the programme echoed the view that Amorim’s shortcomings and boardroom failures can coexist.

According to contributors on the broadcast, removing the manager may address immediate pressure but does little to resolve the underlying issues that have plagued United for years. The concern among supporters is that without structural clarity and accountability, the cycle of appointments and dismissals will simply continue.

For many fans, the dismissal of Amorim feels less like a turning point and more like another reset without a plan.
