Leverkusen star visits City and opens the door to other clubs, according to German report
According to Bavarian Football Works, Wirtz spent his day off flying to Manchester – not for shopping, but to meet none other than Pep Guardiola himself.
Leverkusen surprised – and called dad immediately
Rumors of a done deal between Bayern and Wirtz quickly reached the Leverkusen management, who were reportedly “very surprised” and confronted the player’s father and agent, Hans Wirtz.

However, according to Bavarian Football Works, Wirtz senior denied that any kind of agreement with Bayern exists. He made it clear that no promises had been made, no contracts signed, and that the family remains open to talks with other clubs.
Meeting with Guardiola in Manchester
The report claims that Florian Wirtz and his parents flew to Manchester on Tuesday, where they allegedly met with City manager Pep Guardiola.
They returned to Germany the same evening. Hans Wirtz declined to comment on the visit.
While Bayern still hopes to land Wirtz either this summer or in 2026, it now appears City is seriously entering the race.

The German international is one of Europe’s most sought-after attacking midfielders – and it’s clearly not just Bayern knocking on the door.
With the transfer door wide open and no official ties to any club, the battle for Florian Wirtz is well and truly underway. Bayern may have to fight harder than expected to secure a player many had already seen destined for the Allianz Arena.
Whether he ends up in red and white – or sky blue – remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: Wirtz is keeping all options open.
