Tim Visser, the Dutch-born former Scotland winger who won 33 international caps, has pleaded not guilty to four charges including rape and abusive behavior.
The 39-year-old appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, where his defense counsel, Ian Duguid KC, entered the plea on his behalf.
“It is a plea of not guilty to the indictment,” Duguid told the court.
The allegations are unproven and Visser denies all of them.

Charges span 14 years
The indictment lists alleged incidents said to have taken place in Edinburgh and elsewhere between 2010 and 2024, with 26 individual claims in total. Two of the four charges relate to rape; the others cover alleged threatening and abusive conduct, including taking intimate images without consent and controlling the woman’s appearance, finances, and what she wore and ate.
Prosecutors indicated they may also present evidence of alleged incidents dating back to 2004, which are not themselves formal charges.
33 caps for Scotland
Visser was born in the Netherlands but opted not to play for his home nation, instead representing Scotland as a winger between 2012 and 2017, winning 33 caps.
His club career took in Newcastle Falcons, Edinburgh and Harlequins, and he retired from the sport in 2019.
