Kick-off in Freiburg is at 5:30pm local time, and Vincent Kompany arrived at Friday’s session already short of Luis Díaz and Jamal Musiala. By the end of it he was missing four likely starters, with Kimmich away from the squad and Neuer treated indoors.
Kimmich has been absent since a bereavement in his immediate family. He sat out the midweek Champions League draw with Arsenal, which ended 2-2, and did not return in time for the Freiburg preparations. His availability for Sunday has not been confirmed.
Neuer’s problem is physical. The goalkeeper worked away from the main group on Friday and received further treatment on a foot that has already caused fluid build-up this season, according to fcbinside. The 40-year-old missed the matches at Viking FK and against RB Leipzig earlier this month before playing all 90 minutes against Arsenal on Wednesday, and a second rest in a week is now on the table.
If Neuer is held back, Jonas Urbig is in line to deputise. The 23-year-old trained with Sven Ulreich on the goalkeeping pitch, as fcbinside reports.

Díaz ruled out, Musiala still absent
Bayern confirmed on Thursday that Díaz had suffered a muscle fibre tear and will be out for several weeks. The Colombian picked up the injury in his left thigh during the Arsenal match.
Musiala’s recovery is older. The attacking midfielder has not played since picking up a muscle fibre tear in his right thigh during the international break and continues individual rehabilitation at the training centre.
Kompany himself only just back
Even the manager has had an interrupted week. Kompany was advised to rest with a viral infection ahead of the Arsenal match and missed training, with assistant Aaron Danks taking the session before the Belgian returned to the touchline on Wednesday.
Harry Kane, who played the full match against Arsenal, is set to start up front at the Europa-Park Stadion on Sunday.
