Ivan Toney arrested in London after reported altercation with fan

According to The Sun, Toney was moving through the venue when a group nearby recognised him. One man allegedly tried to pull the striker toward him while attempting to take a selfie. A witness told the newspaper: “One of them recognised him and said, ‘Oh, it’s Ivan Toney’ and tried to put his hands around his neck to get a photo with him.”

The witness said the situation escalated almost immediately. “And then Toney said, ‘Get off me, get off me’ and ended up headbutting one of the guys,” they told The Sun.

LBC reported that the man struck in the incident suffered a bloody nose and may have received a fracture. Staff inside the venue reportedly contacted emergency services once the altercation broke up.

Police and ambulance response

London Ambulance Service confirmed a crew was dispatched at 1.57 a.m. following reports of an assault. Shortly afterward, video published by The Sun appeared to show Metropolitan Police officers escorting Toney from the building in handcuffs.

Yahoo Sports also reported the arrest and noted that police have not yet confirmed whether Toney will face charges. As of Saturday evening, the Metropolitan Police had not issued a detailed public statement identifying the parties involved or outlining next steps.

Career uncertainty at a sensitive moment

The arrest comes at an awkward time for Toney, who has enjoyed strong form since his 2024 move from Brentford to Al Ahli. He has continued to score consistently in Saudi Arabia and had been considered a possible outside option for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, given his experience and specialist penalty-taking ability.

A number of Premier League clubs including Tottenham have been linked with a move for the striker as teams weigh mid-season reinforcements. Any deal was already expected to require a substantial fee, and the latest off-field development may prompt clubs to monitor the ongoing investigation before progressing talks.

Awaiting developments

Neither Toney’s representatives nor Al Ahli had commented publicly at the time of publication. It remains unclear whether further witness statements or venue footage will influence the police decision on potential charges.

For now, Toney’s international prospects and any possible Premier League return hinge not only on his form but on how the situation unfolds in the days ahead.
