The line the Spanish sports press wanted was there for the taking. Asked whether a move to La Liga had ever been on the table, Kane did not close the door.
“There were moments when that could have happened. I wouldn’t say there were concrete opportunities, but there have been some discussions in the past. I have great respect for La Liga,” Kane told Marca.
“Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético are among the biggest clubs in the world. I grew up with Ronaldo and Messi as role models. I have enormous respect for these teams.”
“I never rule anything out, but right now, as I’ve already said, I’m extremely happy in Germany.”

Contract talks running in parallel
The comments arrive with Kane and Bayern deep in negotiations over a new deal. His current contract expires in summer 2027, and the England captain confirmed at the end of August that the first sit-down had already taken place.
“The first meeting was this week. Talks have been positive. So far, so good,” Kane said after Bayern’s Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart, adding he would like to “stay long term.”
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen struck the same note.
“The chemistry is perfect, so we’re completely relaxed about the matter,” he said.

Barcelona are watching
Kane’s refusal to slam the door on Spain will resonate loudest in Catalonia. Barcelona are monitoring the extension talks and view Kane as one of the profiles who could fill the number-nine vacancy left by Robert Lewandowski’s departure. The Catalan club lead La Liga after five rounds.
Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid have not been linked to any concrete approach, but Kane’s own name-check has put all three La Liga heavyweights back into the transfer conversation.
The 73-goal case for staying
Asked in the same Marca interview about his Ballon d’Or candidacy, Kane pointed to his output.
“I don’t like talking about myself, the 73 goals speak for themselves.”

Kane’s Bayern contract runs to 30 June 2027. No extension has been announced.
