Yamal pulled level with Mbappé on 21 October. The 19-year-old struck in the 79th minute at the Parc des Princes, hauling the game back to 2-2 before Paris Saint-Germain pulled away to a 4-2 win. It was his second Champions League goal in three appearances this season and his 13th overall before his 20th birthday.
He and Mbappé reached the same number very differently. Mbappé posted 13 as a teenager in just 23 appearances. Yamal has needed 36. Erling Haaland sits third on the all-time teenage list with 10.
Yamal does not turn 20 until July 2027, so his record chase runs well beyond this fixture. Even before the PSG strike he already led all teenage scorers for Champions League goal contributions, with 12 goals and 13 assists.
Villa arrive to a perfect start
Unai Emery’s side have won all three of their league-phase matches, beating Club Brugge, Fenerbahçe and Viking to sit on the maximum nine points. Only PSG, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Betis share a 100% record.

Nicolas Jackson scored six times in October, giving Emery a centre-forward in form going into Camp Nou. Villa travel without Amadou Onana (knee), Matteo Ruggeri (thigh) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (thigh), according to the match preview.
Alavés rout, Flick past 100
Hansi Flick’s team beat Alavés 6-1 on Saturday, with Yamal and Raphinha each scoring twice. The result pushed Flick past 100 wins as Barcelona manager.
Dani Olmo is sidelined with an adductor problem, leaving Flick to lean on Yamal and Raphinha against the Premier League side yet to drop a point in Europe this season.
Kick-off at Camp Nou is at 9pm local time on Tuesday.
