The moment comes from a three-on-three scramble in Akron, Ohio, that put James back on the course with his high school “Fab Five” teammates from St. Vincent-St. Mary. When Travis, an opponent for the round, settled into his stance, James doubled over and could not stop laughing.

James partnered up with Sian Cotton and Frankie Walker Jr., taking on Travis, Willie McGee and Randy Mims. The 90-minute video went up on the LeBron James YouTube channel earlier this month and was picked up quickly across NBA fan accounts.

A reunion of the Akron Fab Five

The core of the group has been together on a basketball court since long before the NBA. James, Cotton, McGee, Travis and Dru Joyce III made up the Fab Five that led St. Vincent-St. Mary to an 81-1 record against Ohio opposition, including three state titles.

Travis went on to play college basketball at the University of Akron. Appearances of the full group in one frame have been rare since, which helped the clip travel.

A new channel, and a new team

The scramble is episode two of the YouTube channel James launched on August 17, 2026. Episode one followed a golf trip to Scotland with members of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers title team.

The channel is pitched, in its own description, as this: “Follow along as LeBron brings his friends and fans along for the journey as golf takes him to some of the world’s greatest courses. Come for the game, stay for the great local food, wine, and a whole lot of laughs along the way.”

Basketball is not far behind. James is preparing for his league-record 24th NBA season after signing a two-year, $8 million contract with the 76ers on July 24, a move he framed as his “last decision.” Training camp opens September 29, and the 76ers begin the regular season on October 20 against the New York Knicks.
