A £46m signing in July has become a £100m asset by the end of October, at least on Brighton’s internal spreadsheet. That is the asking price the Seagulls have reportedly placed on Luka Vuskovic, the Croatian defender they signed from Tottenham just months ago.

The valuation is not a formal offer or a public listing. It is a message to any club tempted to make an early move. Vuskovic has started every one of Brighton’s seven Premier League matches this season and been part of a defence that has kept five clean sheets, a run that has lifted Fabian Hurzeler’s side to third in the table with 16 points.

Liverpool and Real Madrid watching, not bidding

Nothing has crossed into the territory of a bid. Reports place Liverpool and Real Madrid among the clubs tracking him, with any serious approach not expected before 2027. The link to Anfield is sharpened by Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation at Liverpool, with Vuskovic viewed as a possible long-term successor at centre-back.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke backed Liverpool to look at Vuskovic in the coming months, in comments relayed by Empire of the Kop.

“He looks like a special talent, there’s no getting away from that. This form is going to attract interest from top clubs, not just in the Premier League but across Europe,” O’Rourke said.

A record signing turned prized asset

Brighton paid Tottenham a club-record £46m for Vuskovic in the summer, after the defender’s loan spell at Hamburg had made him one of the most talked-about teenage centre-backs in Europe. Sources close to the club have told Football Insider that Brighton are relaxed about his future and believe his market value will only climb from here.

Vuskovic has started every Premier League game this season and missed just 12 minutes of league action.

The teenager is contracted at the Amex until the summer of 2031, and no formal bid from any club has been reported.
