Liverpool are reportedly preparing a €100m bid for Federico Valverde. Real Madrid are not expected to engage.
Fichajes reported on 30 October that Andoni Iraola’s side are putting together an offer worth 100 million euros, around £83m, to try to prise Valverde away from the Bernabéu next summer. The Spanish outlet, citing Football Insider, writes that Liverpool have identified the 28-year-old as the midfielder who can take over the position occupied by Alexis Mac Allister.
Real Madrid’s answer, according to the same report, is that the transfer is unfeasible in the short term. Valverde is contracted until June 2029, carries a release clause raised to one billion euros when he renewed in 2023, and is Real Madrid’s first captain for the 2026/27 season under Jose Mourinho, having taken the armband after Dani Carvajal’s departure.
Not for sale at any price
The Hard Tackle, carrying the Fichajes story on 31 October, put Madrid’s position in flat terms. The club would not entertain a bid “regardless of the financial package involved”, the outlet wrote, adding that “there is little indication that Florentino Perez is prepared to sanction the midfielder’s departure”.

The Mac Allister problem driving the search
Why Liverpool are looking at all sits at Anfield. Alexis Mac Allister, whose contract runs to 2028, told ESPN earlier in September that there was no “final decision set in stone” on an extension, in comments reported by Yahoo Sports on 22 September.
“I have two years left, and a lot can happen in two years, there are plenty of possibilities,” he told ESPN ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Atletico Madrid.
That is the gap Fichajes argues Valverde would fill, a Champions League-level midfielder for a role Iraola has already identified as needing cover.
Camara, not Valverde, is the January name
If Liverpool do move for a midfielder this winter, Valverde is not the player. Football365 reported on 2 November that Iraola’s side are ready to make a €50m (£42m) offer for Monaco’s Lamine Camara in January, after Chelsea’s summer approach collapsed.

The Fichajes line on Valverde is, at best, a summer-2027 project. Madrid frame it as a non-starter, and Liverpool’s realistic winter business runs through Monaco.
