Luis Enrique responds to Manchester United talk

Luis Enrique offered little encouragement to speculation linking him with Manchester United after laughing off a question about the job during a brief exchange with a supporter.

The Paris Saint-Germain manager was approached while signing autographs in a video that circulated widely on social media. When a fan told him, “I hope you stay at PSG for a long time,” Enrique replied: “Me too.”

Asked if that meant not moving to United, the Spaniard did not respond directly and instead laughed, avoiding the suggestion altogether.

The moment has added to ongoing discussion around United’s managerial situation, with the club still considering long-term options while Michael Carrick continues in charge on an interim basis.

Enrique, 55, has been linked with several top roles thanks to his record at both club and European level. He has won major honours with Barcelona and PSG, including domestic league titles and the Champions League.

Former England defender Joleon Lescott, however, suggested the move may not appeal to Enrique in the current circumstances. He questioned whether United are ready to compete at the highest level and indicated that Carrick could be a better fit due to his connection with the club.

While speculation continues, Enrique’s immediate priority remains PSG’s push in Europe.

The French champions will face Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals after progressing with an 8-2 aggregate win over Chelsea. Liverpool reached the last eight by overturning a first-leg deficit to beat Galatasaray 4-0 at Anfield.
