Pavlovic has made his position clear in nine words.
“I’m Bavarian, I’m from Munich, and I want to stay at FC Bayern,” the Germany international said, in a quote relayed by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg and picked up across European outlets last week.
That was his answer to a Manchester City move worth up to €100 million. City sporting director Hugo Viana made multiple calls to push the transfer through, having rated Pavlovic as a higher priority target than Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.
Bayern never allowed it to reach the formal-offer stage. The club told City that Pavlovic is not for sale and has refused to entertain approaches at all, with BILD reporting that City’s nine-figure push dates back to the spring.

Contract to 2029, ‘potential future captain’
The 22-year-old is tied to Vincent Kompany’s Bayern until June 2029 and the club regards him as a potential future captain and a central part of their long-term plans. A January departure, that report added, “appears unlikely given Bayern’s firm stance.”
A Bayern academy graduate, Pavlovic has established himself as a first-team regular under Kompany, impressing with his defensive acumen and ability to dictate the tempo from deep.
United join the queue
Manchester United have now been added to the list of suitors by German outlet Fussball News, which reports the club is seriously considering a move and views Pavlovic as a top-class option in midfield.
Head coach Michael Carrick, confirmed as the permanent manager in May 2026, is working with a midfield rebuilt over the summer around Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos, and Youri Tielemans. According to the same Fussball News report, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation.

None of the four clubs has lodged a formal bid, with Bayern’s refusal to negotiate shutting the conversation down before any paperwork could move. Pavlovic’s deal in Munich runs until June 2029.
