Man Utd ‘ready to offer Marcus Rashford’ in stunning PSG swap proposal
Manchester United’s summer rebuild is beginning to take shape, and one of the club’s highest-profile academy graduates may unexpectedly sit at the center of it.
People briefed on the early planning say United are evaluating a range of scenarios for Marcus Rashford including whether his future could play a part in attempts to open negotiations for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The discussions are at an exploratory stage, but Rashford’s form in Spain and United’s evolving squad priorities have created a more fluid landscape than the club anticipated a few months ago.
A revitalised Rashford complicates United’s planning
Rashford’s loan at Barcelona has been a bright point in an otherwise unsettled period for the English forward. Reporting from ESPN in October highlighted his six goals and 11 assists in 21 appearances production that has helped Barcelona climb to the top of La Liga after 16 rounds.

His success contrasts sharply with his diminished role under United head coach Ruben Amorim, who preferred other profiles in wide positions earlier in the campaign.
Although Rashford remains under contract with United until 2028, his £325,000-per-week salary is a significant financial commitment for a club conscious of Premier League spending rules. Internally, there is a growing acknowledgment that his long-term place in Amorim’s system may be difficult to define.
Rashford has made no secret of how settled he feels in Catalonia. As quoted in ESPN’s October coverage, he said: “I'm enjoying this football club… For anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honour.”
Barcola interest introduces a new wrinkle
Meanwhile, United’s recruitment staff continue to assess wide attacking options. The Spanish outlet Fichajes recently reported that the club has shown interest in Bradley Barcola, the 23-year-old French international whose blend of pace, directness and off-the-ball intelligence has made him one of PSG’s most intriguing young players.
Barcola has recorded five goals and three assists in 19 matches this season for the Champions League holders, according to Fichajes. Scouts from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, have monitored him since his Lyon days and are understood to remain attentive ahead of the summer window.
Sources cited by Fichajes suggest United would almost certainly need to add a transfer fee to any proposal, given the five-year age gap and Barcola’s rising valuation.
From a footballing perspective, Barcola would offer United something they currently lack: a natural right-sided winger comfortable attacking both inside and outside. Amorim’s system places heavy emphasis on wide forwards who can stretch the pitch an area in which the France international has excelled.
Factors shaping the timeline
Both players’ contracts run until 2028, but PSG’s attempts to extend Barcola’s agreement have reportedly slowed in recent months. Even so, any meaningful movement is unlikely before Rashford completes his season-long loan and returns to Manchester.

PSG manager Luis Enrique sounded unfazed by speculation over Barcola’s future when he was asked about it in June. “Bradley Barcola’s future? I have no doubt he'll remain our player… he’s one of those young players we’ve been banking on,” he said. “I expect him to play here for many more years.”
For now, United’s approach appears to be one of assessment rather than urgency. The club is expected to refine its transfer priorities in the coming months, with Rashford’s situation and the Barcola opportunity sitting among several variables that could shape their summer strategy.
