Manchester United eye shock move for Lewandowski as free transfer nears

Manchester United are reportedly exploring a surprise move for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, with new manager Ruben Amorim keen to bring the Barcelona and Poland star to Old Trafford next summer.

According to the Daily Star, the 37-year-old forward has already given a green light to the potential deal, with sources close to the club claiming he has “said yes” to the move. Lewandowski is expected to become a free agent at the end of the current season, opening the door for a high-profile transfer without a fee.

The interest comes as Amorim looks to reshape United’s attacking options and inject proven goal-scoring experience into the squad. Despite his age, Lewandowski remains one of Europe’s most clinical finishers, and his arrival would add leadership and firepower to a United side aiming to return to the top of English and European football.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and has continued to perform at a high level in La Liga. But with his contract set to expire, and no extension agreed, clubs are beginning to circle, and United appear to be leading the race.

No formal offer has been made yet, but reports suggest talks could progress quickly, especially with Lewandowski reportedly open to the idea of playing in the Premier League before the end of his career.

Should the move go ahead, it would mark one of the most surprising free transfers in recent memory, and a major statement of intent from Manchester United under Amorim’s leadership.
