Michael Carrick meets Ratcliffe as Manchester United future remains unclear

Michael Carrick has confirmed he recently held talks with Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, as questions continue over his long-term role at the club.

The former midfielder suggested he would welcome the opportunity to stay on but acknowledged that the final decision lies beyond his control.

Low-key meeting signals support

Speaking about the meeting, Carrick described it as informal but positive, emphasizing the sense of unity within the club.

“We had a chat, a cup of tea… It was nice to see him showing his support,” Carrick said. “As a football club we’re hugely connected, it’s a big part. I’m really conscious that’s how it should be.”

Future still undecided

Carrick made clear he remains committed to Manchester United, despite the uncertainty surrounding his position.

“I love being here. I understand the situation and it’s a little bit out of my hands. I love being here and I love what I’m doing. I love this place, I’m here to help,” he said.

While the club has yet to confirm any long-term decision, Carrick’s comments underline his willingness to continue contributing in whatever role is required.
