According to Tuttosport, the Portuguese midfielder has agreed a deal that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028. The article quoted Real Madrid’s announcement as saying: “Real Madrid and Bernardo Silva have reached an agreement under which the player will wear the Real Madrid shirt for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028.”

Mourinho makes his mark

Silva’s arrival is being seen as one of Mourinho’s first major moves since returning to the Real Madrid bench. The Portuguese coach is said to have personally pushed for the deal, viewing Silva as a player capable of adding experience, technical quality and tactical intelligence to the midfield.

The signing also underlines Madrid’s desire to move quickly in the market. After a season in which expectations remained high, the club appears determined to refresh the squad with established players who can make an immediate impact.

Silva leaves Manchester City after trophy-laden spell

Silva arrives in Spain after nine successful years at Manchester City, where he became one of Pep Guardiola’s most trusted players and won every major honour available at club level.

His contract with the English champions had expired, making him one of the most attractive free agents on the market. That status drew attention from several leading European clubs before Real Madrid moved decisively.

Deal completed in 36 hours

The negotiation is reported to have advanced at remarkable speed, with the agreement reached in just 36 hours. The pace of the deal is notable given that Barcelona had been linked strongly with Silva only weeks earlier, while Juventus were also said to be monitoring his situation.

Madrid’s swift action allowed them to move ahead of the competition and secure a player long admired across Europe.

More signings expected under Mourinho

Silva is not the only new arrival in what is shaping up to be an active transfer window for Real Madrid. The club have also reportedly secured Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries as part of a broader recruitment drive.
