Barcelona are pushing to sign Pedro Porro in January and the Tottenham right-back is receptive, according to reporting by Spanish journalist Enric Canyellas carried by Football365. The 27-year-old Spain international is said to view a return home, and a reunion with several of his national team colleagues under Hansi Flick, as an appealing prospect.

None of this is confirmed. Neither club has commented, and the story sits some way below the Fabrizio Romano or David Ornstein tier of transfer certainty.

Barcelona’s defence is thin

The rumour lands as Flick’s side deal with another injury blow at the back. Barcelona confirmed via their medical department that Andreas Christensen suffered a muscle problem in the 3-1 win over Sevilla on 20 September and would be out for several weeks pending further tests.

Spanish outlet Fichajes has put a figure on the interest. A follow-up piece in The Hard Tackle sets the target fee at around €50m and links any bid to the prior sale of Jules Kounde. With Porro under contract until 2031, that number looks light, and Tottenham would be under no obligation to negotiate.

Tottenham are the worst start-story of the season

The Spurs side of the picture is grim. Roberto De Zerbi’s team are bottom of the Premier League after five matches, with two points from two draws and three defeats, two goals scored and eight conceded.

Canyellas’ report also flagged that Porro’s relationship with De Zerbi has cooled, even though the head coach has publicly backed him. Porro signed his current extension in June 2026, at De Zerbi’s insistence, keeping him at the club until 2031, so any winter sale would happen on Tottenham’s terms.

Any Barcelona move would in turn depend on Kounde being sold first, which places Flick’s ambition behind two doors that are not his to open.

Porro will not be available to anyone in the immediate future. He picked up a hamstring injury during the 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa on 19 September and is expected to be sidelined for roughly a month.
