Premier League football star held at gunpoint in London incident

A quiet evening in London turned into a scene of panic and fear when a Premier League footballer was reportedly threatened at gunpoint.

Late-night scare

Police were called around 11.14pm on September 6, earlier this year, after the player, thought to be worth around £60 million, was confronted by an armed man while walking with a friend.

The player, who is estimated to be in his 20s and cannot be named for legal reasons, was unharmed but left deeply shaken.

According to early reports, the incident occurred in a busy part of London, drawing the attention of several witnesses who quickly alerted authorities.

Officers soon began an urgent investigation, leading to a suspect who has since shocked many within the game’s inner circle.

Agent under arrest

A 31-year-old football agent, known for representing top players, including one England international, was arrested the following month.

Police detained him on suspicion of brandishing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He is also being investigated for allegedly blackmailing and making threats against the player’s companion.

Two days after the incident, officers raided the agent’s £2 million home in Hertfordshire, seizing several items as part of the inquiry.

The suspect was released on bail on September 9 with strict conditions, including a ban on contacting the player or visiting his club’s training ground.

Shock in football circles

A source close to the investigation told The Sun: “This was a terrifying incident and one which has sent shockwaves through the business side of football. The player was understandably shaken up, to have threats made against you with a gun is shocking. He reported it right away. It was the right thing to do for his safety. He has been supported by his friends and club and they all hope it will not impact his performances.”

The insider added that police are exploring possible motives behind the confrontation, which remains unclear.

The case has reignited discussion in football circles about just how vulnerable top players remain off the pitch.

Status on investigations

The suspect was later granted permission by a magistrates’ court to travel abroad after requesting his passport back, but must return it upon arrival next month.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the investigation is still ongoing, as the football world awaits further updates.
