PSG already planning the exit

Calm success with lingering uncertainty

Paris Saint Germain recent stability has been built around continuity on the bench. Since his arrival, Luis Enrique has reshaped the team identity and overseen sustained domestic success while restoring PSG credibility in Europe.

Yet despite being under contract until 2027, questions around how long the Spanish coach intends to remain in Paris have never fully disappeared.

According to RMC Sport, doubts about Enrique long term commitment have circulated internally for months, even as results continue to arrive.

Riolo fuels doubts over Enrique future

Those concerns resurfaced publicly after comments from Daniel Riolo, a consultant for RMC, who spoke about Enrique mindset on France Bleu.

According to Riolo, Enrique does not envision himself settling into a long Parisian chapter and remains emotionally tied to Barcelona.

“He is 100 percent Barça. He is someone who moves a lot,” Riolo said, adding that the coach could be reluctant to extend his current deal.

The remarks reignited unease among supporters familiar with PSG history of abrupt managerial change.

Arteta name quietly gains ground

As speculation intensified, attention shifted toward possible successors. According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, PSG decision makers have identified Mikel Arteta as a credible future option.

Arteta, currently head coach at Arsenal, previously played for PSG during the 2001 to 2002 season, a link that still resonates inside the club.

According to Hawkins, Arteta personal connection to Paris remains strong and could influence his openness to a return.

“He appreciates Paris, he has been through the club, he would also perhaps like to coach PSG one day,” Hawkins said.

Contract timing shapes the scenario

One factor adding weight to the discussion is timing. Both Enrique and Arteta are contracted to their current clubs until 2027.

According to observers close to the club, this alignment has encouraged PSG executives to quietly map out future scenarios in order to avoid instability if a transition becomes necessary.

While no formal approach has been made, the situation is being monitored closely.

New report intensifies speculation

More recently, German outlet BILD reported, via Touchline, that Enrique has refused to extend his PSG contract as he seeks a new challenge in the summer.

According to BILD, the decision reflects a desire for change rather than dissatisfaction with PSG. The club has not confirmed the report, but it has added urgency to discussions that were already underway.
