Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly slapped a formidable £116 million price tag on France international Bradley Barcola, a valuation that comes amidst significant interest from Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal.

The 23-year-old forward, who joined PSG from Lyon in 2023, is understood to be growing increasingly dissatisfied with his reduced role at the Parc des Princes. Barcola reportedly fears even fewer opportunities should PSG proceed with plans to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, leading to his reluctance to sign a new contract. He is prepared to seek an exit this summer if he isn’t guaranteed regular starts next season.

PSG’s firm financial stance

Despite Barcola’s apparent discontent, PSG is in no hurry to offload the player. The club is under no financial pressure to cash in, especially after AC Milan agreed a club-record fee in the region of £64 million to sign Goncalo Ramos. This significant influx of funds has alleviated any immediate need to sell Barcola. Furthermore, the club is reportedly open to sanctioning the departures of Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani if additional funds are required.

PSG’s primary focus remains on agreeing an improved deal for Barcola, who still has two years remaining on his current contract. They have halted any exit talks, with The Athletic reporting that the club values Barcola at a minimum of £116 million in the current market. This valuation is reportedly benchmarked against the proposed deal for Elliot Anderson to join Manchester City, with PSG believing Barcola is a more attractive option than the Nottingham Forest star.

Premier League clubs seeking attacking reinforcements

The high asking price will test the resolve of Barcola’s suitors. Arsenal is actively seeking a new left winger, a role Barcola could fill, while Liverpool is in desperate need of a forward following the departure of Mohamed Salah. Manchester United were previously linked with a move for Barcola, but their current priority for the summer transfer window is a midfield overhaul.

Barcola’s talent is undeniable, having contributed 13 goals and seven assists for PSG last season. His profile has been further boosted by his inclusion in the France squad for the FIFA World Cup this summer. He notably scored France’s second goal in their 3-1 group stage victory over Senegal two weeks ago, showcasing his abilities on the international stage.

Despite his achievements, which include two Champions League trophies and three Ligue 1 titles with PSG, Barcola was named on the bench for the recent Champions League final win over Arsenal, a decision that likely fuels his desire for a more prominent role.
