PSG tie down rising star João Neves with fresh 2030 deal

Paris Saint Germain have strengthened their long term plans by extending João Neves’ contract through 2030. According to Le Parisien, the Portuguese midfielder has signed a one year extension to the agreement that had previously been set to expire in 2029.

The decision underlines the club’s satisfaction with the progress Neves has made since arriving in the French capital. Club executives view the adjustment as a reward for his development and growing influence in the squad, Le Parisien reports.

A reward for progress

When João Neves joined Paris Saint Germain, he did so on wages that placed him toward the lower end of the club’s salary scale, according to Le Parisien. His rapid adaptation and consistent performances have since altered his standing internally.

At 21, the Portugal international has become an increasingly reliable presence in midfield. Extending his contract now allows the Ligue 1 champions to secure both sporting stability and financial control over a player whose value is expected to rise.

Part of a broader contract drive

The move fits into a wider strategy at Paris Saint Germain. According to L’Équipe, Fabián Ruiz has already finalised his own extension, while Lucas Beraldo is also in line to prolong his stay.

Discussions are continuing with Bradley Barcola, the France international who still has two and a half years remaining on his current deal. L’Équipe reports that several meetings have already taken place as the club attempts to reach an agreement.

Mayulu still weighing his options

The situation is less settled for Senny Mayulu. The France Under 21 international will enter the final year of his contract in June.

While he has privately indicated that he sees his future in Paris, he has yet to respond to offers made in recent months, according to L’Équipe.

By securing João Neves early and advancing talks with other young players, Paris Saint Germain are attempting to avoid uncertainty around core squad members as they build toward the coming seasons.
