Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. says sorry after romance ends in scandal
Brazilian footballer Vinicius Junior has publicly apologised to influencer and TV host Virginia Fonseca following the end of their brief relationship.
The Real Madrid winger admitted he had been “careless” after Fonseca discovered intimate messages between him and other women, though he insisted they were not officially a couple.
A brief romance
Virginia Fonseca, a popular presenter and entrepreneur in Brazil, reportedly began seeing Vinicius shortly after separating from her ex-husband, singer Ze Felipe.
According to Brazilian outlet Leo Dias, the pair had been spending time together both in Spain and Brazil, with Fonseca even attending Real Madrid’s recent 3-1 victory over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu while wearing his jersey.

However, their connection quickly unraveled when Fonseca learned of Vinicius’s online conversations with other women. She confirmed to Leo Dias that the relationship had ended, citing a lack of transparency as the reason for their split.
Public apology
In a series of Instagram stories, Vinicius addressed the situation with a lengthy message expressing regret and self-reflection. “We all go through moments that make us reflect and grow,” he wrote. “I recently experienced a situation that made me reflect and recognise attitudes that didn’t represent who I want to be or the kind of relationships I want to build.”
He continued by praising Fonseca: “Virginia is an incredible woman, an admirable mother, and someone for whom I feel enormous affection and respect. Since we met, she has come to Madrid three times to see me, leaving behind her routine, her commitments, and her life just to be with me.”
The Real Madrid star admitted his mistakes openly, adding: “Although we weren’t officially a couple yet, there was a sincere connection. I’m not ashamed to admit that I was careless, that I didn’t respond in the best way I could have, and that I disappointed her.”

Hoping for a restart
Vinicius ended his post by expressing a wish to repair their connection. “For this reason, I want to apologise publicly, with an open heart, because I understand that a true relationship only exists when there is respect, trust, and transparency,” he wrote. “The idea now is to restart everything. Without lies, without fights, without masks. With lots of love, affection, and respect.”
Fonseca, who has more than 45 million followers on social media, has not publicly responded to the apology.
On-field progress
While his personal life draws headlines, Vinicius’s performances on the pitch continue to impress. Under new head coach Xabi Alonso, he has re-established himself as a key figure in Real Madrid’s attack, scoring five goals and providing four assists in eight La Liga matches this season.
His growing partnership with Kylian Mbappé has also been a highlight, helping Madrid maintain their strong early-season form.
