Roman Reigns is the quiet one in the room. His promos are usually clipped and patient, built on long pauses and a measured voice. On the final Raw before Money in the Bank, that version of him disappeared for a few minutes.

LA Knight came out swinging. He branded Reigns “the most manufactured corporate puppet industry plant” he had ever seen in WWE and framed the champion as a product of the company machine.

Reigns answered with a sharper edge than usual. The irritation was visible, the delivery clipped and tense, and the segment has become the talking point from the show.

“You’ve got these people thinking we’re on the same level and that couldn’t be any further from the truth. You see, I’m a doer, and you’re a complainer… we got plans for you, you’re just another egg in the omelette.”

“You can say it all you want, but they know the truth. I’m the only megastar here, I’m the only true champion. I live it, I breathe it, and I eat it, and when I’m eating it, it’s at the head of the table.”

Officials want to pull this version out again

According to a WrestleVotes report via Fightful Select, “a number of officials, both backstage and within production, were impressed with the promo segment between LA Knight and Roman Reigns on Raw, specifically pointing out Reigns’ performance.”

Wrestleview reported that the reaction has moved into creative discussions about how the more emotional presentation might be used going forward. No permanent character shift is being planned; officials see the approach as something to pull out when a storyline calls for it.

Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight on Saturday, October 10, at Money in the Bank. WWE has announced that the champion will appear on Raw at Pechanga Arena in San Diego on October 19, nine days after the title defence.
