Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence at Al-Nassr continues to extend beyond the field, with the Saudi club now linked to Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger as questions grow around the German international’s future in Spain.

Rudiger is entering a period of uncertainty at the Bernabeu, with his contract moving closer to its end and no agreement yet in place over an extension. That situation has opened the door to interest from abroad, and Al-Nassr are among the clubs monitoring developments closely.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that discussions over a new deal have stalled, creating the possibility that Rudiger could leave Madrid when the 2025–26 season concludes. While the club have not fully ruled out a short-term renewal, the report suggests that a departure is increasingly viewed internally as a realistic outcome if talks fail to progress.

Real Madrid’s position is shaped by long-standing policy rather than immediate performance concerns. The club have typically avoided committing to lengthy contracts for players in their thirties, instead prioritising squad flexibility and long-term planning. Rudiger, who turns 33 next spring, falls into a category Madrid have historically approached with caution.

As part of a wider defensive transition, Madrid are prepared to allow experienced players to move on while shifting recruitment toward younger profiles. That approach has helped accelerate outside interest, particularly from Saudi Arabia, where clubs continue to target established European players to strengthen their squads.

According to Fichajes, Al-Nassr are preparing a financially significant offer that would place Rudiger in a central role within their sporting project. The proposed terms are expected to exceed what most European clubs would be willing to offer, reflecting the Saudi Pro League’s ongoing investment in high-profile talent.

Ronaldo’s role in the process has also been highlighted. Sources cited by Fichajes say the Portugal forward has personally endorsed the move, believing Rudiger’s experience and physical presence would provide an immediate boost. Ronaldo is reported to hold considerable sway in recruitment decisions, with several recent signings having followed his recommendations.

No formal decision has been made, and Rudiger remains focused on Real Madrid’s current domestic and European campaigns. However, the defender is understood to view the Saudi option as a credible and ambitious possibility, particularly given the scale of the financial proposal and Ronaldo’s continued presence at Al-Nassr, where he is contracted until 2027.
