Ruben Amorim has lashed out at his own team and is now threatening to resign as Manchester United manager if the team’s development does not improve significantly in the upcoming season.
Goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen sealed the victory for the visitors, while United watched on without any reaction or resistance.

The defeat was the second consecutive loss in the league and was made worse by an injury to French talent Leny Yoro, who had to leave the pitch in the second half.
Although Amorim expressed hope for a quick return for Yoro, it was especially the team’s lack of spirit and intensity that concerned him.
According to the Portuguese coach, United’s performances in the Premier League have far too often been characterized by passivity and a lack of winning mentality.
Amorim emphasized that the team does not show the same intensity in the league as it does in European competitions, where there has been more focus and willpower.
He believes the players are missing the necessary sense of pressure and demands, and that this is ultimately something deeply rooted in the club’s culture.

“I have the feeling that there is a lack of urgency in everything we do,” he told the press after the game, according to Metro.
According to Amorim, this is a mental barrier that permeates the squad – and it must change quickly if the club wants to rebuild its status as one of Europe’s top clubs.
Amorim Could Be on His Way Out
The coach made it clear that he is not only questioning the players but also himself.
He stated that he is not willing to repeat a similar season next year and left the door open for him to step down if the team starts the next season with the same approach.
“If we start like this, or if the feeling is still there, then we should make room for someone else,” he said, making it clear that his future at the club depends on significant changes over the summer.

Amorim pointed to a culture in the dressing room where players have become accustomed to defeats. He referred to past games, such as against Wolves, where the team also created chances without showing the necessary will to protect their own goal.
According to him, it is particularly dangerous when one starts accepting that the position cannot improve – and therefore lowers the standards.
What should be unthinkable for a club of United’s caliber – namely losing at home without resistance – has, according to Amorim, become routine.
A change in mentality is therefore crucial, and he warns that if this does not happen now, the consequences could be far greater than just a single disappointing season.
