Spurs slap £57m price on Bergvall as Premier League giants circle

Tottenham have set a valuation north of £57 million for Lucas Bergvall amid growing interest from rival Premier League clubs, according to a report by FotbollDirekt.

The Swedish publication states that Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool have all made checks on the midfielder’s situation, but Spurs would only consider discussions if their price point is met.

Bergvall, 20, is viewed internally as part of the club’s longer-term midfield planning rather than a player they are actively looking to move. Tottenham have not publicly commented on the report.

Why Tottenham are holding firm

While interest from domestic rivals is not uncommon for emerging players, Spurs are understood to be relaxed about the situation. Bergvall remains under contract and, despite not yet being a regular starter, is seen as a development piece within the squad.

Clubs such as Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool are constantly surveying young Premier League talent, particularly midfielders capable of adapting to multiple roles. Bergvall’s technical profile and top-flight exposure make him a logical name on recruitment lists.

However, placing a figure above £57 million signals that Tottenham would require a substantial offer before entertaining formal negotiations.

Season overview

In the 2025, 2026 Premier League campaign, Bergvall has made 17 appearances, including 10 starts. He has scored once and provided two assists across 809 minutes of league action.

His statistical output also includes 10 shots, five on target, and two yellow cards, with an average match rating of 6.68.

Across all competitions since joining Tottenham, Bergvall has featured 71 times and scored two goals.

He is currently sidelined with a leg injury and is expected to return in late April.

How the injury and timing affect the market

The timing of Bergvall’s injury could influence how quickly any potential interest develops. With the midfielder unavailable until late April, clubs tracking him are unlikely to accelerate talks in the immediate term.

Tottenham’s position, as outlined by FotbollDirekt, suggests there is no urgency from their side. Unless a bid surpasses their valuation, Bergvall appears set to remain part of the club’s plans heading into next season.
