Sergio Perez calls Austin and Mexico “our two home races.” Cadillac has yet to put a point on the board.

The Mexican is back at the Circuit of the Americas for the United States Grand Prix on 23-25 October, the opening leg of two consecutive race weekends that double as the clearest early verdict on Cadillac’s Formula 1 debut. Austin is the team’s own home race, built around GM’s new American entry. Mexico City the following weekend is home for Perez himself, and it is also where he will reach the 300-start milestone.

He has not disguised what the stretch means.

“I am looking forward to Austin and Mexico, our two home races,” Perez told Mexican reporters this week. “Austin, in Texas, for the team; and Mexico, which will be particularly special for me, as I will race in front of my fans and reach my 300 grands prix there.”

A debut season with hard numbers

Cadillac arrived in 2026 as the sport’s 11th team and have found the going exactly as advertised. Perez’s season-best race result is 14th at Barcelona, and his 10th on the road at Monaco was rolled back to 15th by a post-race grid-box penalty, erasing what would have been the team’s maiden point. Cadillac sits 11th in the constructors’ standings, the only team on the grid still on zero.

Perez’s own account of where that leaves them is not sentimental.

“We got [a point] in Monaco but unfortunately [it was] taken from us,” he told Formula1.com in July. “At the moment, the gap is too big to make it up.”

Bottas: “a big step or get lucky”

Teammate Valtteri Bottas has framed any Cadillac points haul the same way.

“I’m not looking at the points situation. Of course we want to score but for that we would either need to make a big step or get lucky at the moment,” the Finn told Formula1.com in the same session.

The team’s own half-term review flagged repeated brake fires and a persistent lack of pace alongside the one encouraging line in a difficult campaign: Perez leads Bottas 6-5 in qualifying and 6-3 in races.

The 300 is in Mexico, not Texas

The milestone itself falls at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 30 October-1 November, where Cadillac has announced a show run along the Paseo de la Reforma in the days leading into the race. For Perez, the second of the two home weekends is the one with the number attached.

The United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas runs from 23 to 25 October, with the race on Sunday afternoon.
