The Worst National Football Teams in Every FIFA Confederation – Ranked

When talking about international football, most fans focus on the giants like Brazil, Argentina, and France. But at the other end of the spectrum, several national teams continue to struggle on the global stage. According to the latest FIFA Men's World Rankings, these are the lowest-ranked teams from each confederation.

San Marino – UEFA

San Marino is currently ranked 210th in the FIFA rankings, making them the lowest-ranked team in the world. Since their first international match in 1986, they have managed only two victories, both against Liechtenstein, the latest coming in September 2024. Despite occasional improvements, San Marino has never won a single European Championship or World Cup qualifier.

Anguilla – CONCACAF

Anguilla sits at 209th place in the FIFA rankings and holds the title of the weakest team in the CONCACAF region. The Caribbean nation has never qualified for a FIFA World Cup or the Gold Cup and is known for heavy defeats, including a 12-0 loss to El Salvador and a 15-0 loss to Trinidad & Tobago. Since 1985, they have managed just nine victories.

Guam – AFC

Ranked 202nd in the world, Guam is currently the lowest-ranked team in the Asian Football Confederation. Once ranked as high as 146th in 2015, the team has since suffered a significant decline. They are on a 12-match losing streak, including two 7-0 defeats to China, and their last victory came back in 2019, when they beat Bhutan 5-0.

Seychelles – CAF

Seychelles is placed 203rd in the FIFA rankings, making them the lowest-ranked team in the Confederation of African Football. Back in 2006, they reached a high of 129th, but results have since gone downhill. During the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, they suffered heavy losses, including 3-0 to Gabon and 5-0 to Burundi in March 2025.

Tonga is ranked 198th worldwide and is the lowest-ranked team in the Oceania Football Confederation. The nation is infamous for its 22-0 defeat to Australia in 2001, one of the heaviest losses in football history. After being unranked for four years, Tonga returned to FIFA’s list in 2023 and managed a 6-2 win over American Samoa at the Pacific Games.

Bolivia – CONMEBOL

Bolivia currently holds the 78th spot in the FIFA rankings, making them the lowest-ranked team in South America. Despite appearing in three World Cups (1930, 1950, and 1994), they have never won a match at the tournament. Their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign has been disappointing, with five losses in their first six games.
