Tottenham confirm player threatened at gunpoint by football agent
According to The Mirror, the 22-year-old full-back was reportedly threatened with a firearm on the night of September 6 in a north London suburb. Officers were called to the scene at around 11:14 p.m. after another man was also blackmailed and threatened during the same encounter.
The Metropolitan Police said a 31-year-old agent was arrested two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear, blackmail, and driving without a licence. No injuries were reported.
Nearly two months on, Udogie has returned to training and match action while the legal process continues. The case remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Tottenham’s Response
After initial reports from The Mirror and Italian outlets identified Udogie as the victim, Tottenham later confirmed his involvement through a club spokesperson.

“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further,” the club said.
Udogie featured in Spurs’ 4–0 Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday, marking his 76th appearance for the club. The Italian had recently missed matches against Aston Villa and Everton with an injury before returning from the bench in last weekend’s 1–0 loss to Chelsea.
Agent Change
Following the confrontation, Udogie switched representation. Fabrizio Romano reported that the player joined Elite Project Group on October 10 — the same agency that represents Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Aston Villa’s Jadon Sancho.
Before that move, he was signed with the Rome-based agency Football Service, which manages several Italian professionals.

The left-back joined Tottenham from Udinese in 2022 and signed a long-term contract extension last year that runs until 2030. So far this season, he has made ten appearances across all competitions.
Context and Outlook
The incident has sparked wider discussion about player safety and the regulation of football agents. Tottenham are understood to be maintaining close contact with both the player and authorities as the investigation develops.
Udogie remains an important part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, with the club hopeful that he can continue to focus on his football as legal proceedings unfold.
