Toyota takes over Haas name in major 2026 Formula 1 shake up
Haas F1 Team has confirmed a major change to its branding and long term direction as it prepares for the 2026 Formula 1 season, a period expected to reshape the competitive landscape of the sport.
According to an announcement released by Haas F1 Team on its official social media channels, the agreement formalises and expands an existing working relationship with Toyota Motor Corporation’s motorsport division.
New team identity confirmed
From the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the American team will compete under the name TGR Haas F1 Team. The change reflects TOYOTA GAZOO Racing becoming the outfit’s official title partner.
According to Haas F1 Team, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing serves as the motorsport competition and research and development division of Toyota Motor Corporation, overseeing both racing programmes and advanced technical projects.

The team indicated that the updated name is intended to reflect an established collaboration rather than signal the creation of an entirely new partnership.
Partnership builds on existing cooperation
Haas described the agreement as a deepening of cooperation between the two organisations, suggesting that technical and operational collaboration has already been underway prior to the title deal.
According to the team’s statement, the partnership is designed to align shared ambitions across personnel development, engineering capability and long term competitiveness.
Toyota’s increased visibility in Formula 1 marks a notable shift for one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, which has maintained a limited presence in the championship in recent years.

Focus on shared development goals
Haas said the collaboration is built around a guiding framework described as People, Product, Pipeline, which the team identified as central to its future direction.
According to Haas F1 Team, these principles are intended to shape how the partnership supports staff development, technical innovation and sustainable growth within the Formula 1 programme.
While no specific technical projects were outlined, the announcement positioned the agreement as a strategic investment rather than a short term commercial arrangement.
Strategic alignment with 2026 regulation changes
The timing of the title partnership aligns with sweeping technical and sporting regulation changes scheduled for the 2026 Formula 1 season, increasing the importance of manufacturer involvement and development resources.
