Rather than crossing central Dublin by motorcade, Trump is scheduled to fly out of the capital by early afternoon and land at his Trump International Golf Links resort in Doonbeg, County Clare, according to his published itinerary. The aerial leg keeps his convoy clear of the streets where the demonstration is due to pass.

The march starts at 1pm local time at the Garden of Remembrance and heads down O’Connell Street towards Dáil Éireann, The Irish Times reports. Organisers include the Irish Neutrality League, the Irish Anti-War Movement, ROSA, United Against Racism, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre and the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, with backing from Sinn Féin, People Before Profit, Labour and the Social Democrats.

Organisers reject the security framing

Sara O’Rourke, convener of the Irish Neutrality League, said the demonstration is a direct answer to how the visit has been framed.

“The political establishment are trying to turn the Trump visit into a security issue. However, the vast majority of the Irish people abhor his policies and this needs to be expressed,” she told The Irish Times.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett called on the public to turn out in numbers.

“Send a clear message to Donald Trump that he is not welcome,” he said.

Sunday’s trophy at Doonbeg

Trump is scheduled to spend two nights at Doonbeg and attend the final round of the Amgen Irish Open on Sunday, September 13, the DP World Tour tournament page confirms. He is expected to present the trophy to the winner before departing that evening or early on Monday.

A separate demonstration billed “The Great Irish Unwelcome” is planned near the resort across both days, and Shannonwatch has organised a protest at Shannon Airport that also starts at 1pm local time.

Restricted airspace over west Clare

The Irish Aviation Authority has established temporary restricted airspace around Shannon Airport and Doonbeg, enforced from Saturday, September 12 until Monday, September 14.

Phoenix Park, where Trump is due to meet Taoiseach Micheál Martin at Farmleigh House and President Catherine Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin, is closed to the public from 11pm on Thursday until 6pm on Saturday. Every gate, including pedestrian entrances, will be shut.

In west Clare, the N67 between Clonadrum Cross and Doonbeg is diverted via the R483 in both directions, and Irish Open spectators must use the park-and-ride bus service instead of parking at the course.

Rolling road closures around Dublin Airport are in place from 7.30am to 9.30am and again from 11.30am to 1.30pm local time on Saturday. By the time the second window ends, the marchers will already be moving down O’Connell Street.
