Verstappen and Vettel together for potential 24h-Le Mans start
According to Sky Sports Germany, Sebastian Vettel revealed that he has spoken with Max Verstappen in the past about the idea of competing together at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In the interview, shared by Verstappen News on X, Vettel said: “I am also in regular contact with Max and we already talked a few years ago that, if it ever works out, we'd race Le Mans together.”
The comments later circulated more widely after being reposted by formularacers_ on X, prompting speculation that Verstappen could be open to the challenge of endurance racing. However, Verstappen has not publicly commented on the matter, and no official plans have been announced.
A long-standing endurance ambition
Vettel’s remarks suggest that the idea of tackling the iconic French endurance race has been discussed informally for several years. The 24 Hours of Le Mans requires teams of three drivers per car, making any potential entry a collaborative effort.

While Formula One drivers have occasionally explored endurance racing, any participation would depend on calendar alignment, manufacturer commitments, and contractual obligations. At this stage, there is no indication that a formal project is underway.
Alonso’s name enters the conversation
Online discussion has also turned to Fernando Alonso, a two-time Le Mans winner with prior success in the World Endurance Championship. Fans have speculated that Alonso could complete a high-profile trio alongside Verstappen and Vettel.
There is, however, no evidence linking Alonso to a shared Le Mans entry with the two former rivals. Neither Verstappen nor Alonso has confirmed involvement in such a plan.
For now, the possibility of a Verstappen, Vettel, and Alonso collaboration remains open, driven by Vettel’s comments to Sky Sports Germany and subsequent social media discussion rather than any official announcement.
