Vinicius Jr. at centre of bizarre theory after fans spot one detail

The viral claim that Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr was replaced by a body double after the 2026 World Cup has mutated into a sprawling catalog of plots involving the CIA,…

The theory began with a tattoo. Side-by-side images circulated on Brazilian TikTok and X in late September appeared to show a thigh tattoo missing on the Vinicius who turned up for Brazil’s national team camp, compared with the one wearing white for Real Madrid. Clips have since piled up millions of views.

The core claim, as CNN Brasil set out on September 29, is that Vinicius vanished after the World Cup and was replaced by a lookalike to honor his sponsorship deals. The Brazilian broadcaster’s verdict was flat: there is no evidence to support the story.

Believers have reached for the perceived differences anyway. The thigh tattoo. Facial changes. Lighter patches of skin. A dip in form at Real Madrid. IBTimes UK noted that photographic differences of this kind are routinely created by angles, image quality, clothing and lighting, and that Vinicius had an aesthetic facial procedure during his post-World Cup holiday that was openly discussed at the time.

From a double to the CIA and the Rothschilds

Within days the theory had slipped its tether. An X account posting as @BlackBondPtv suggested that the CIA, the Rothschild family and a loosely defined ruling elite had killed Vinicius after the World Cup and installed the replacement. Reptilians have been added by other accounts. None of it is supported by anything beyond screenshots and vibes.

Vó Bahiana and the mothership that never came

Then there are the aliens. A Brazilian spiritual influencer known as Vó Bahiana, grandmother Bahiana in Portuguese, predicted before the World Cup that a UFO mothership would hover over Hard Rock Stadium in Miami during Brazil’s group match against Scotland on June 24 and lift players and fans away with mechanical arms. She specifically named Neymar and Vinicius among the targets.

Brazil and Scotland duly played the fixture without extraterrestrial incident. The prophecy has since been pulled into the body-double narrative all the same: the aliens, in this telling, took the real Vinicius, and whatever is now at Real Madrid is what came back.

Real Madrid stays silent

Real Madrid and people around Vinicius have declined to engage with any of it, treating the claims as digital noise unworthy of a reply, according to Goal and Sport Witness. The player himself has not commented.

The flesh-and-blood Vinicius, whatever his tattoos are doing, has kept playing. He scored and assisted for Real Madrid in their 4-1 win over Real Sociedad in August and started Brazil’s 4-2 friendly win over Australia on September 29, the national team’s last outing before next month’s international window.
