White house fight night shock: UFC plans historic cage battle at Trump birthday event
Historic MMA event planned at the White House
A major combat sports event could soon unfold at one of the most recognizable addresses in the United States.
According to the announcement made during the UFC 326 broadcast on Paramount+, the organization revealed the lineup for “UFC Freedom Fights 250,” a fight card scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2026, on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington.
If staged as planned, the show would mark the first known professional sporting event held on the grounds of the White House.
The date coincides with Flag Day and also falls on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. The fight card is being positioned as part of broader celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and the Declaration of Independence.

According to reports from the broadcast, the event has been under discussion for more than six months and reflects the long-standing relationship between UFC CEO Dana White and President Donald Trump.
Championship fights headline the card
According to information revealed during the UFC 326 broadcast on Paramount+, the event will feature six fights in total, including two title bouts.
The headline matchup is expected to see Lightweight champion Ilia Topuria defend his belt against Justin Gaethje.
Another championship contest will feature Alex Pereira facing Ciryl Gane for the interim Heavyweight title. Pereira is attempting to become the first fighter in UFC history to win championships in three different weight divisions.

Additional fights scheduled for the event include Sean O’Malley versus Aiemann Zahabi, Michael Chandler versus Mauricio Ruffy, and Diego Lopes versus Steve Garcia.
No women’s fights were announced as part of the lineup.

UFC CEO Dana White acknowledged during an interview with Joe Rogan on Paramount+ that assembling the card proved difficult.
“This card was a lot more difficult to put together than we had anticipated, but we got it done,” White said. “A fight fell out last night. The matchmaking team was literally in the office all night last night working on this thing.”
White also said weigh ins for the event are expected to take place at the Lincoln Memorial.
Fighters missing from the announcement
Several high profile fighters had previously expressed interest in competing at the event but were not included in the announced lineup.

Former UFC champion Jon Jones said earlier he had been in discussions with the promotion about fighting on the card.
“I’m a very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more time,” Jones said.
Former two division champion Conor McGregor had also suggested he might compete at the June event. McGregor has not fought in the UFC since suffering a leg injury during a 2021 bout against Dustin Poirier and was not included in the announced fights.
Trump’s growing presence in the sports world
The fight card comes amid a series of recent sports related events hosted at the White House.

In recent weeks, President Donald Trump welcomed members of the Olympic gold medal winning United States Men’s Hockey Team and hosted 2025 MLS Cup champion Inter Miami FC.
He also held a roundtable discussion with political leaders and college sports officials about the future of college athletics.
Trump previously said the White House will host a four day youth athletic competition called the Patriot Games as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
The UFC event is planned as one of the centerpieces of those festivities.
