6 Manchester United Players Who Should Never Play for the Club Again
Manchester United’s 2025 summer window is turning into a ruthless clear-out under Ruben Amorim. After a dismal 2024/25 campaign, several players have been deemed surplus to requirements. These six, in particular, have reached the point of no return at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford

Once the golden boy of the academy, Marcus Rashford’s career has stalled due to inconsistency and questions over professionalism. Despite a stellar 30-goal season in 2022/23, his relationship with Amorim deteriorated quickly. Loaned out to Aston Villa and then Barcelona, his chances of wearing the United shirt again under the current manager are slim to none.
Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho’s fallout with Amorim began when he was dropped for the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. His public push for a Chelsea move — including wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Rashford’s name — showed open disrespect. With his antics on and off the pitch, he’s almost certainly played his last game for United.
Jadon Sancho

Sancho’s troubles started under Erik ten Hag, when he accused the manager of lying and making him a scapegoat. After loan spells at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, a permanent move collapsed over wage demands. Back at Old Trafford, there’s no sign Amorim sees him as part of the future.

Antony

Signed for a massive £85m, Antony never lived up to expectations at United, admitting his mental struggles under the weight of his price tag. A loan to Real Betis revived his career, but United’s £43m asking price has stalled a permanent deal. Even so, a return to Manchester looks both unlikely and unwise.
Rasmus Højlund

Højlund has the right attitude, insisting he wants to “stay and fight,” but four league goals last season tell a different story. Left on the bench during key pre-season matches and replaced by Benjamin Sesko, he’s clearly out of Amorim’s plans. AC Milan are circling, and a move might be best for all sides.
Tyrell Malacia

Injuries have derailed Malacia’s United career, with a year-long layoff robbing him of form and confidence. Loaned to PSV last season, he returned only to be frozen out of pre-season. With new signings filling his position, a cut-price sale is almost inevitable.
