According to Barca Universal, Spain national team manager Luis de la Fuente has unveiled his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The announcement highlights a significant Barcelona presence, with eight players from the Catalan club earning call-ups as Spain prepare to enter the tournament as one of the favourites.
As reported by Barca Universal, the Barcelona contingent includes a mix of established stars and rising talents: Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, and goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
Notably absent from the squad are Fermin Lopez, who is sidelined due to injury, and Gerard Martin, whose current form reportedly did not meet the selection criteria.

Key shirt numbers assigned for the tournament
With the squad confirmed, Barca Universal reports that Spain’s shirt numbers have also been allocated, revealing several interesting choices ahead of the tournament.
Lamine Yamal, who recently switched to the iconic No. 10 shirt at Barcelona, will wear the No. 19 for the national team. The coveted No. 10 jersey for Spain has instead been handed to Dani Olmo, underlining his important role in Luis de la Fuente’s plans.
Pedri and Gavi will also wear familiar numbers. Pedri is set to take the No. 20 shirt, while Gavi reclaims the No. 9, a number he wore before a long-term injury kept him away from the national team setup.
Ferran Torres will retain his preferred No. 7 shirt, continuing with a number that has become closely associated with him for Spain.

Returns and debuts among the ranks
As detailed by Barca Universal, the squad also marks an important return for Eric Garcia, who has been handed the No. 4 jersey after making his way back into the Spanish senior national team following an absence of more than three years.
Promising defender Pau Cubarsi has been assigned the No. 22 shirt, reflecting his growing influence at both club and international level.
In goal, Joan Garcia, who made his Spain debut earlier this year in March, will wear the No. 13 shirt.
Rounding out the goalkeeping selections, Arsenal’s David Raya has been given the No. 1 shirt, while Unai Simon will wear the No. 23.
