He has the name. He has the speed. And now, he also has the Portuguese crest on his chest.
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., son of the legendary CR7, has been called up to Portugal’s U15 national team for the first time – and no, his father isn’t joining him. Not yet, at least.
The 14-year-old forward, who plays for Al-Nassr’s youth academy in Saudi Arabia, has been selected for the Portuguese squad that will compete in the international U15 Vlatko Markovic tournament in Croatia this May.
This marks the beginning of a new Ronaldo generation rising.
Proud Father – But Staying on the Sidelines
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted like any proud football father, writing on Instagram:
“I am proud of you, son.”
This isn’t the first time the superstar has shared his dream of seeing his son on the pitch – and perhaps even sharing the field with him one day.
A Talent with Many Options
Cristiano Jr. was born in the USA, has lived in Spain, trained in England, and has Cape Verdean roots.
Altogether, he is eligible to play for five nations – but his first choice is clear.
Portugal, just like his father.
He has impressed at Al-Nassr with goals and technical flair, and several Portuguese media outlets have described him as a player with a natural vision and strong football intelligence.
Now, he will have to prove himself at the international level when the tournament in Croatia begins on May 13.
A Name That Carries Weight
With Ronaldo’s name comes both expectations and the spotlight. But Cristiano Jr. seems ready to take his first steps – not in his father’s footsteps, but on his own path.
As his father Ronaldo has said: “It’s more in his hands than in mine.”
