Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed his marriage to Georgina Rodríguez the way most modern love stories are announced, with an Instagram post. A photograph of two hands with matching wedding bands, captioned simply “C❤️G”, passed four million likes inside 40 minutes after the couple shared it on 11 August.
At 41, and after nearly a decade with the 32-year-old model, football’s most followed man still moves the internet faster than almost anything else on it.
No cathedral, no crowd, just five children
The civil ceremony took place in Cascais, the coastal town west of Lisbon where the couple now keep a home. There were no cameras, no invited guests and no public appearance, only their five children in the room as Ronaldo and Rodríguez exchanged rings.
The setting caught almost everyone off guard. Only days earlier, hundreds of onlookers had gathered outside Funchal Cathedral in Madeira after false rumours spread that the wedding would take place there on 8 August, only to discover another couple were marrying.

Instead of a cathedral in Ronaldo’s birthplace, the pair opted for a wedding stripped of everything but family.
One year to the day since the ring
The timing was not an accident. Rodríguez announced their engagement on 11 August 2025 with a photograph of a 30-carat oval diamond and the caption “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.” A year on, to the day, the ring was joined by a band.
The two met in 2016 in Madrid, when Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in the Spanish capital. Their five children include Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.
Back to work in Riyadh
Football will not wait long. Al-Nassr open their Saudi Pro League title defence at home to Al-Fateh on Friday, 15 August, with the second fixture away to Al Riyadh on 21 August.

The Riyadh club will be led by Ange Postecoglou, who signed a two-year deal in July to succeed Jorge Jesus. The Australian’s first competitive night in charge arrives four days after his star forward’s wedding.
