Fabrizio Romano reported a “verbal agreement… on an initial loan with buy clause to become mandatory under certain conditions at £50m” between Tottenham and Manchester City.

He walks into a club still processing Saturday’s opening-day collapse. Gakpo hinges on Liverpool’s attacking business

Cody Gakpo is the piece Spurs are still struggling to line up. Reports point to an opening bid worth in excess of £60m already sitting with Liverpool, but the Netherlands forward’s exit is tied to Anfield’s own recruitment.

Liverpool are pursuing Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola to replace the departed Mohamed Salah, and are not expected to entertain Tottenham’s offer until their own attacking business is settled. Alfredo Pedulla said Spurs will follow up with a fresh approach “soon”.

With the window closing on 1 September, that leaves Gakpo in the rumour column while Marmoush’s medical is the concrete piece of business on Monday.
