Lando Norris has committed his long-term future to McLaren, signing a new contract that will keep him with the Woking outfit until 2030. The lucrative deal reportedly makes him one of Formula 1’s highest-paid drivers, and includes an unprecedented bonus: his 2025 championship-winning MCL39 car.
According to SPORTbible, the new agreement represents a significant reward for Norris after he delivered McLaren’s first Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship in 17 years.
A top-tier salary for a world champion
The new contract is said to be worth around £60 million annually, placing Norris as the third-highest-paid driver on the F1 grid. Only reigning world champions Max Verstappen, who recently extended his deal with Red Bull Racing, and Lewis Hamilton command higher salaries in the sport.
SPORTbible reports that the enormous contract reflects Norris’s growing status within Formula 1 following his championship-winning campaign and establishes him as a central figure in McLaren’s long-term plans.

The ultimate signing bonus: an F1 world champion car
The standout element of the new agreement is the gifting of the MCL39, the very car that carried Norris to his maiden F1 Drivers’ Championship in 2025. This historic win marked McLaren’s first drivers’ title since 2008 and contributed to their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship.
McLaren confirmed the unique bonus in a statement provided to Planet F1:
“In addition to confirming his future with McLaren for the next four years at least, Lando will be gifted an MCL39, which he raced during his 2025 world championship-winning season. This gift serves as a lasting reminder of his contribution to the team, in particular his part in securing the team’s second consecutive constructors’ title in 2025, while also becoming the team’s first Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion since 2008.”
This is a rare occurrence in Formula 1, as teams typically retain their historic chassis for display at headquarters, such as McLaren’s facility in Woking, UK, or for private collections like that of McLaren manager Zak Brown, who boasts one of the largest collections of retired F1 chassis.

Norris’s expanding garage
As highlighted by SPORTbible, the MCL39 will join an already impressive and growing collection of cars owned by Norris. McLaren has previously gifted him a 765LT Spider, a P1, and a Senna.
His personal garage also features a diverse range of vehicles, including:
- A Rolls-Royce Wraith
- A Ferrari F40
- A Shelby Cobra 427
- A classic Fiat 500 Jolly
Before the addition of the MCL39, Norris’s car collection was reportedly valued at approximately £10 million.
