Rafael Leao did not wait to be introduced. Minutes after the final whistle of the Super Lig meeting with Goztepe, the 27-year-old walked out with Victor Osimhen, picked up an ultras flag and led the traditional Cimbom bom chant with his new supporters, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

La Gazzetta dello Sport puts the shirt sales at 50,000 in three days, each one carrying Leao’s name and the number 27 he has taken at his new club.

Osimhen made the introduction himself, taking the Portuguese winger by the hand and steering him towards the tribunes before the pair led the club’s celebration with the fans, Pulse Sports Nigeria reported. The Nigerian, whose penalty had put Galatasaray two clear before Juan Santos pulled one back, was asked about the signing straight after the match.

“Very good, very good. That’s a good superstar mehn. Leao is a good superstar, I said it,” Osimhen said.

From San Siro to Ali Sami Yen in a week

The move was made official on Saturday, when AC Milan confirmed the permanent transfer of Rafael Alexandre da Conceicao Leao to Galatasaray Spor Kulubu after seven seasons at San Siro.

“The Club thanks Rafa for the professionalism and passion shown in the Rossoneri shirt over these seven seasons together, during which he contributed to winning the Scudetto in the 2021/22 season and the 2024 Italian Supercup,” the Rossoneri wrote in their statement.

The Turkish champions paid a reported €38 million for the winger and handed him a four-year contract worth around €10m a season, with Milan retaining a 20 percent share of any future sale.

500 fans meet him at the airport

Leao’s plane touched down in Istanbul on Friday, and around 500 supporters were waiting for the SUV that carried him from the runway. He addressed the crowd in short order.

“I hope I can give really good joy to the Galatasaray fans,” he told supporters on arrival.

He was equally direct about the man who was waiting for him inside the dressing room.

“Osimhen is a really good friend, I think we will do good things together for Galatasaray. We are in the Champions League, want to win the League, so I am excited.”

Buruk’s front three now reads Osimhen, Sane, Leao

Okan Buruk, Galatasaray’s head coach, now has an attack that reads Osimhen, Leroy Sane and Leao. The Turkish side beat Goztepe by coming from behind: Novatus Miroshi put the visitors ahead on 16 minutes, Davinson Sanchez levelled before the break, Gabriel Sara turned the game around early in the second half and Osimhen’s penalty made it 3-1 before Santos gave the closing minutes some edge.
