Gerwyn Price and James Wade are no longer down to play Players Championship 29 and 30 in Den Bosch on 22 and 23 September, according to Dutch darts outlet DartsNews, which broke the story on Monday.
Their exit follows Luke Littler’s decision to stay away from the Netherlands after a bruising weekend at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.
Littler had said in the days before the event that he would only travel on to Den Bosch if he won the World Series title, Sky Sports reported. That plan collapsed in the quarter-finals on Sunday, 20 September, when Jonny Clayton beat him 10-4 and ended his bid to win all 10 televised majors in one calendar year.
Littler: “no point in me travelling”
Well before the exit against Clayton, Littler had already picked a fight with the Amsterdam crowd at AFAS Live.

The 19-year-old was booed and whistled through his 10-9 last-16 win over Nathan Aspinall on Saturday, a night on which referee Charlie Corstorphine had to step in. It was a repeat of the reception he had been given a day earlier during a win over Dutch favourite Danny Noppert.
Afterwards, he told Sky Sports he was ready to draw the same line in the Netherlands that he already draws in Germany.
“If the Dutch stay like this, then I’m not going to do any Euro tours over there.”
“There’s just no point in me travelling, wasting my time while I’m getting booed.”

“The past two nights, I’ve done nothing, I’ve just walked off stage without thanking anybody. There’s no point thanking everyone when they are booing me.”
Price and Wade give no public reason
Price and Wade have not publicly explained why they are skipping Den Bosch, and neither the PDC nor either player has linked their withdrawal to the atmosphere in Amsterdam.
Both were in action at the weekend. Price reached the final on Sunday night before losing 11-5 to Ross Smith, while Wade went out in the quarter-finals to Price on the same day.
Whatever the motivation, the Players Championship 29 and 30 draw at Maaspoort has lost three high-profile entries in a matter of days. Eight Challenge Tour players, including Steve Lennon and Nathan Potter, have been called up to fill the vacancies.

Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross, Josh Rock and Stephen Bunting are still down to play.
Euro Tour, not the floor events
Littler’s stance in Amsterdam explicitly pointed to European Tour events, not the two floor tournaments in Den Bosch. He has already stayed away from German Euro Tour stops over the way he says he is treated there, and told reporters he was ready to do the same in the Netherlands.
The next Dutch date on the tour calendar after Den Bosch is the Dutch Darts Championship in Maastricht from 16 to 18 October.
Play at Players Championship 29 begins on Tuesday at Maaspoort in Den Bosch.
