The centrepiece is unmistakable. Budd’s has set a £50,000 to £80,000 estimate on the gold medal that Dallaglio collected after England beat Australia in extra time, according to Planet Rugby.
The 54-year-old former England captain is parting with 22 items in all, with the full collection carrying a combined estimate of around £180,000. Bidding opens on Tuesday next week.
Dallaglio was declared bankrupt in May 2025, with the order extended until 31 August 2026. He has been open about the personal roots of the financial trouble.
“As a result of getting divorced, I was made bankrupt. I had some financial problems,” Dallaglio told the High Performance podcast.

A back-rower’s career on the block
The lots run from early England caps to his final season at Wasps. His 2007 Rugby World Cup runners-up medal has an estimate of £5,000 to £10,000, and the 2003 Six Nations Grand Slam medal £3,000 to £5,000. Premiership and Heineken Cup medals from his Wasps years each carry estimates of £5,000 to £8,000, as do his England and British and Irish Lions caps, the Independent reported.
Dallaglio won 85 Test caps for England between 1995 and 2007 and toured three times with the British and Irish Lions. He signed off his club career by lifting the 2008 Premiership title with Wasps.
‘Withdrawing back into my little shell’
Divorce from Alice, his wife of nearly 20 years, led to the sale of the family home in Richmond, in south-west London, with his share of the proceeds directed towards debts to HM Revenue and Customs and others.
Dallaglio has described a long retreat into himself after his private life unravelled.

“I probably was guilty of withdrawing back into my little shell and going a little bit into hibernation,” he said on the podcast.
His father, Vincenzo, died in December 2024. Dallaglio said he had eventually sought therapy after exhausting every other way of coping, the Telegraph reported.
“Much of it was my own doing. That’s the first thing you have to acknowledge,” he said.
“I could have done things a lot better.”
