A year on from scoring 21 goals in all competitions in Arsenal’s title-winning campaign, Viktor Gyokeres has yet to start a Premier League fixture this season. According to TEAMtalk’s exclusive report, that is the main reason he now wants out.
The 28-year-old Sweden international, signed from Sporting CP in 2025, has decided to push for a January exit. His representatives are already assessing offers across Europe, with TEAMtalk putting the striker’s price tag at “£60million-plus”.
Benched behind Havertz
Under Mikel Arteta, Kai Havertz has settled in as the first-choice centre forward because his movement and link play suit the system better, Goal reports. Gyokeres’s league minutes have been limited to cameos.
The second grievance is Arsenal’s continued interest in Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, which has, CaughtOffside writes, raised doubts within the Gyokeres camp about how prominently he features in Arsenal’s long-term plans.

Atletico Madrid are the frontrunners
Atletico remain interested in the Sweden international, while his representatives are also sounding out clubs in the Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga.
Arsenal will not sell without a replacement
The decision does not sit with Gyokeres alone. Arsenal have no intention of letting him go in January unless they have an elite replacement already lined up, Sports Mole reported in September.
That makes Alvarez the pivotal name. Arsenal would consider a sale if the Argentine arrives, but Alvarez’s reported preference for Barcelona complicates any mid-season switch.
Arteta, who signed a contract extension to 2030 earlier this month, has backed Havertz for the central role throughout the season so far.
