Lyon arrive in Paris top of Ligue 1 on goal difference. Both sides sit on 14 points after seven matches, with Lille a third club tied at the summit on the same tally.

The fixture was pushed back from Sunday after the Prefecture of Police banned the original date. The Ligue de Football Professionnel acknowledged the order and moved kick-off to Monday 26 October at 20:30 local time.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will not feature. The Georgia forward ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Tuesday night in PSG’s 4-2 Champions League win over Barcelona and faces surgery in the coming days, with his season over.

In a message on Instagram quoted by Sky Sports, Kvaratskhelia described leaving the field injured and said he had thought he was prepared for everything but not for this.

Luis Enrique: ‘We can cope’

Luis Enrique insisted on Saturday that the injury would not force PSG into the January market.

“No injury means that we absolutely must sign a new player,” the PSG head coach told reporters, adding that he had said since the start of the season that the squad could cope with any injuries.

Kvaratskhelia is not the only absence. Ousmane Dembélé and captain Marquinhos are both nursing thigh problems and remain under treatment for several weeks, and left-back Nuno Mendes was also missing from the Barcelona squad.

According to Le Parisien, cited by Yahoo Sports, Luis Enrique’s shortlist to fill the vacant left-wing berth runs to Maghnes Akliouche and Désiré Doué, with Nuno Mendes a candidate to be pushed forward from full-back once fit. Youth-team options Senny Mayulu and Quentin Ndjantou are also expected to play a part in rotation, while summer signing Mika Godts, bought from Ajax with a profile close to Kvaratskhelia’s, is still viewed as a work in progress.

Lyon’s reminder from last season

Luis Enrique had no shortage of warnings about the visitors, telling reporters it was extra motivation to face Paulo Fonseca’s side after Lyon won at the Parc des Princes last season.

The scheduling has cost PSG another engagement. Monday night’s rescheduled kick-off clashes with the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, meaning the squad will be in the stadium rather than at the gala. Dembélé, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, is already ruled out through injury.

Lyon travel knowing a win would open daylight at the top of the standings. Kick-off at the Parc des Princes is at 20:30 local time on Monday.
