Two unbeaten sides, 17 points apiece, first place on the line. The Bundesliga’s eighth matchday delivers Der Klassiker on Saturday with a title-race edge that neither club will see again before the winter break.
Kick-off at the Allianz Arena is at 6:30pm local time. Bayern top the table on goal difference, having scored 25 league goals to Dortmund’s 12. Niko Kovač’s visitors bring the compensating number: only four goals conceded in seven matches, with five clean sheets, the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues.
Kane the Ballon d’Or holder meets his favourite opponent
Harry Kane collected the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London on Monday, becoming the first Englishman to win it since Michael Owen in 2001. He has four Bundesliga goals this season and a career record of 10 goals in 11 games against Dortmund.
Kovač is not pretending any one defender will handle him.

“He didn’t buy this somehow, he definitely wasn’t given it for free, he worked hard for it,” the Dortmund coach said of Kane’s Ballon d’Or to Fox Sports.
“It needs 11 players and only when you have 11 players at a top level can you get something in Munich.”
Danks takes the Klassiker as Kompany recovers
Vincent Kompany collapsed at Bayern’s training ground on Friday 23 October and was taken to hospital, where he was treated for meningeal irritation, an inflammation of the tissue around the brain or spinal cord. He has since been discharged, but a bench appearance for the Klassiker is considered extremely unlikely, with the international break of 9-17 November reported as the earliest realistic return.
Assistant Aaron Danks will take the team again, as he did at Freiburg last weekend. Bayern won that one 3-1, with Michael Olise sealing it late. The France winger is the team’s leading contributor this season with six goals and three assists in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund bring Europe’s best defence to Munich
Dortmund have kept five clean sheets in seven league games. They have not beaten Bayern in their last five meetings, a run stretching back to 2024.
Bayern’s home record this term is the other side of that coin: 18 Bundesliga goals at the Allianz Arena through four home matches, a club best at this stage of a season, and no defeat on home soil.
The Opta supercomputer makes the champions overwhelming favourites, giving Bayern a 67.1% chance of winning, the draw 17.4% and Dortmund 15.4%.
Three points move either club clear at the top; a draw keeps the pair locked. The next Bundesliga matchday falls after the international break.
